November is Military Family Month

November 2, 2016 Roy Asfar

For 23 years, America has recognized Military Family Month to honor military families through awareness, public and private initiatives and service programs. It's a month for all of us to acknowledge the special service and sacrifices of our military family members.

Veterans Advantage believes that when one member of the family serves, the whole family serves - that’s why family members have always been welcome to enroll in Veterans Advantage since we launched nearly 16 years ago. We created a member plan for family members – at a special 50% discount and it includes all the great benefits of our primary member plan. You may have seen some of our VetFamily awards published in our twice monthly newsletter to honor the family members of servicemen and women who have achieved significant accomplishments due in part to their family member's service to our country. Read some of these inspiring stories.

This month, we encourage you to take a minute to help military families – or acknowledge your own military family – in whatever way you can. Organize volunteer projects to help those with a family member stationed overseas, offer to babysit, or give to a family-oriented military charitable group like Fisher House that provides free accommodations to families visiting family members convalescing from the wounds of war.

We can all do our part to make sure military families get the recognition they deserve. While we have our sights set on recognizing military service this Veterans Day, November 11, let’s also remember the families who support those who serve every day.
